Local Chapters As a member of your local FPA chapter, you’ll connect with the
top financial planning professionals in your area, share ideas and walk away with techniques you can put to work in your own business.
Journal of Financial Planning You will receive a subscription to FPA's official publication,
the award-winning, Journal of Financial Planning. This magazine features prominent writers who cover all aspects of financial planning including news
that shape our community. A $ 90 value!
FPA Connections FPA provides several ways for members to make connections, engage in
conversation and exchange knowledge. This includes face-to-face gatherings, conversations in virtual space via the FPA Cafe on the FPA website.
Career Development FPA helps member advance their careers by constantly expanding
career development initiatives and programs. The Career Center provides a variety of information on career opportunities and resources, some of which include:
Employment opportunities, Internships, Career resources and education. The Career Center can be found on the FPA web site.
Continuing Education FPA conferences serve as a gathering places for the financial planning community.
As a member, you will have the opportunity to attend conferences at substantial discounts. In addition to hundreds of local and regional programs, FPA conducts several
national gatherings, including, FPA’s Annual Convention, Bridge the Gap, Retreat, FPA Residency Program.
Government Relations The government relations office of FPA, based in Washington D.C. exclusively
represents members’ interests before federal and sate regulators and lawmaking bodies. The FPA staff contract lobbyists and a network of FPA members monitor pending
legislation, work directly with lawmakers to draft bills and testify in support of fair and reasonable regulations for the financial planning community.
Public Relations FPA offers tools to help education the public on the value of financial planning, that
include: Financial Planning literature, ‘PlannerSearch’ an online service that connects consumers with CFP professionals in their area, ‘Speaker’s Bureau’, which
provides speakers for public events, and ‘Ask a CFP Professional’ e-mail hotline.
